Lynn began her fascination with the world of gems over 25 years ago. She studied gemology through the Gemological Institute of America and declared that if they ever made gemstone beads she would find her artistic outlet. Twenty years later, her fantasy became reality. Since then she has been designing jewelry utilizing gemstone beads and has branched into other forms of jewelry design. She now divides her time between her home on the San Francisco peninsula and her Sonoma County vineyard and lavender farm wher her studio is located. Lynn Rossman’s statement: “I began studying gemology 25 years ago, always fascinated by the secret stories captured within gemstones. The fascination began with collecting estate jewelry and culminated with my developing a line of my own gemstone jewelry. Each design is unique and not duplicated. Thus you are buying a one of a kind piece of jewelry. Using real gems results in pieces of much carat weight. Thus each necklace is the equivalent of buying many rings of the gemstone. But it is the beauty of the gems in assemblage that is so intriguing and unique. Each of my pieces is unique, created by using the gemstone beads as my palate. I try to envision the wearer of the piece, the events she may be attending, the image she wishes to portray. Sometimes I see her in her jeans, at coffee with friends. Other times she is busy at work, taking secret pleasure in knowing she is wearing a one of a kind piece of jewelry. Other times I see her enjoying an elegant evening, and the attention that comes with her jewelry. I then gather the gemstones, add the findings and begin the assemblage. It is my hope that my lifetime passion with gemstones is conveyed as I envision each work and joyfully anticipate the pleasure and delight it will bring its wearer.”
